Our hearts are heavy as we watch the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles unfold. Lives have been upended, cherished homes reduced to ashes, and entire communities displaced. It’s a stark reminder of just how precious the concept of “home” truly is—not just the walls and roof that shelter us, but the sense of belonging, safety, and connection that defines our communities.

For those of us in real estate, the idea of home is at the center of everything we do. It’s where life happens—where we share meals, celebrate milestones, and build memories. To see so many lose that sanctuary is deeply heartbreaking.
Yet, in the face of this devastation, the strength and resilience of community are shining brightly. First responders, volunteers, and organizations are stepping up, risking their own safety and dedicating their resources to help those in need. They embody the spirit of togetherness that turns a collection of houses into a community.
If you’re feeling compelled to help, here are a few organizations actively making a difference for those displaced by the wildfires:
If you feel inclined to contribute:
-
Our office has launched an initiative to support those who have lost everything, particularly in the working-class communities of Altadena and Pasadena. Because donations of physical goods are more of a burden at the moment as many families don’t have ways to store and transport, we are gathering e-gift “cards” to essential retailers like DoorDash, GrubHub, Target, Amazon, Giftya etc. to allow for them to purchase meals and supplies as needed. We have partnered with a local real estate office down there with agents who are on the ground, actively supporting their clients through this heartbreaking time with finding them temporary housing and matching them up with essentials to get by as they work through logistics of rebuilding their lives and homes. If you would like to contribute, please send a newly purchased or leftover from the holidays e-gift card to [email protected] and we will see that it gets forwarded directly to the inboxes of the people who have lost everything.

Let’s take this moment to reflect on the power of community. When homes are lost, it’s the people who make a place whole again. Let’s lift up those who need us most, stand beside the brave individuals working tirelessly to help, and do what we can to support those beginning the long road to recovery.
Our hearts are with Los Angeles.
